Onealure Carroll

Onealure (Lewis) Oldham Carroll, age 89, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Don R. Wood Auditorium in Clayton, New Mexico with Don Davidson, Ruth Henderson and Jon MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Onealure (Lewis) Oldham Carroll was born on September 20, 1924 in Houston, Mississippi to Moses Lewis and Ava (Cuave) Lewis. Onealure dedicated her life in service to God, family and friends. She was taken out of school at sixth grade to care for her siblings. Onealure married Lawrence Edward Oldham on September 22, 1950 who was in poor health and she cared for him until his death on February 14, 1966. She then raised six unruly children. She later married Roy Howard Carroll on January 5, 1976 who was also in poor health and she cared for him until his death on September 14, 1996. When her health started to fail she went into the nursing home where she lived for the last seven years. Onealure was also preceded in death by her parents and by 3 brothers; William Lewis, Ross Lewis and Rolf Lewis.

SURVIVORS:

2 DAUGHTERS: Avabelle Oldham of Tucumcari, New Mexico and Barbara Dean Williams of Clayton, New Mexico.

4 SONS: Lawrence Edward “Larry” Oldham and his wife Doris of Denver, Colorado, Arnold Evert Oldham and his wife Pat of Flora Vista, New Mexico, Daniel Herman Oldham and his wife Debbie of Meridian, Mississippi and Kenneth Earl Oldham of Raton, New Mexico.

6 Grandchildren & numerous Great-Grandchildren.

2 SISTERS: Minnie Anderson and Mary Bassett and her husband Carroll.

5 BROTHERS: Albert E. Lewis and his wife Adell, James R. Lewis and his wife Sarah, Huey Lewis, Charles Lewis and his wife Mary Lou and Murray Lewis and his wife Karen.
